Cookies & Analytics

WipePDF uses no cookies. For anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g. how often a page is viewed), we use the analytics service GoatCounter — no cookies, no personal data, no profiling. We only collect the page viewed, the referrer, a rough location (country, region/state), screen size, and browser/OS category. So that a reload is not counted as a new visit, GoatCounter briefly recognizes repeat page views via an anonymized value — no cookies and no persistent identifier. Local Processing

The tool processes your PDF entirely inside your browser — page display, pattern/regex search, redaction, and export all happen on your device. The optional text recognition (OCR) that restores searchability on redacted pages also runs entirely client-side via WebAssembly. At no point is a PDF file, an image excerpt, or recognised text ever uploaded to or stored on a server.

Hosting (Netlify)

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (USA). Loading the page technically requires storing server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamp). Netlify participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information: netlify.com/privacy.

Google Fonts

This website loads fonts via Google Fonts (Google LLC, USA), which technically transmits your IP address to Google. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a consistent visual presentation). Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework: policies.google.com/privacy.

YouTube Videos

On the guide page “A black rectangle does not redact” we show a video from our YouTube channel. It only loads when you click “play” – until then there is no connection to YouTube; only a preview image from our own server is shown. After the click, your browser loads the player via youtube-nocookie.com (Google Ireland Ltd., Ireland); this transmits your IP address and technical data to Google, and YouTube may store data in your browser for playback. The legal basis is your consent given by the click (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). More information: Google privacy policy.

Third-Party Libraries (CDN)

To process PDFs in your browser, WipePDF loads the JavaScript libraries pdf.js, pdf-lib, and Tesseract.js from the jsDelivr CDN (Prometheus NV, Netherlands/Switzerland). Loading these files technically transmits your IP address to jsDelivr; your PDF content itself never leaves your browser. For text recognition, Tesseract.js additionally downloads language data from its own CDN (Tesseract.js/Naptha project) — again, only the language model is transferred, never your document content. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Since we do not collect personal data ourselves, these rights generally apply only to data held by the third parties listed above. For requests: robert.musil@robikett.com.
